Day 1: Score race, that means you have to collect as many turn points as possible until the task ends. Nearly everybody headed to the Roggenstock, best take off for the morning. With a just small take off area, it was really crowded and thus I waited my turn to get ready for take off. I could catch the thermal in front and validated in flight 2 turn points before being forced to land. From below the Spirstock I hiked along the Sternen to reach the Forstberg (2252m) via a trial secured with chains. At the top I had to wait a window to get some clearance from the clouds still present. When taking off I had to head quite straight and could not validate another turn point just beside (should have walked to this one - Druesberg and not the Forstberg...). Thus I validated 1 more turn point in flight and headed towards the Piet. Had to top-land (1703 Wannen) and walk up the last part to the Piet (1965m). From their I had a nice flight with great thermals over the Stock allowing me to reach the Stockrain with sufficient height despite a strong valley breeze. The point is that I could not validate it because I checked this point with my phon app and on this the radius was on 400m instead the required 300m.... However Euthal turn point has been validated and I headed back directions Hau. Landing in the valley I walked up to this turn point and walked back (due downwind and lee situation I could not take off) to the starting point in Oberiberg.
Place 19, Walking total ascent = 2042 m (606+667+225+544), distance = 19 km (3,8+5,6+1,3+8,3) - full igc track
Day 2: Race to goal, a fix track has been defined, to be finished as fast as possible. I hiked directly to the first turn point at the Sternen, that revealed to be a good option. However catching the thermal just in front was not so easy and when I headed to it (other pilots indicated more or lees its position) I was some how lost until I realized that the sound of my various was off (when walking I turned it off) ! Trying to fix that during the flight I lost important height and was definitively too low to catch the thermal. So I landed and walked up again. With that I lost the connection with the other pilots. Nevertheless I made it until the Mythen, but quite low and not very successful to catch the great thermals higher above. Thus I flew directly towards the next turn point where I had to land in and walk up to the Hochstuckli. Taking off and going back to the Mythen for the next attempt. This time it worked and I managed to catch the thermals. I left the Mythen much too low and had to land in before reaching the next turn point (Humel). Thus I walked the last hours before the race ended.
Place 33, Walking total ascent = 1736 m (722+224+500+290), distance = 21,9 km (7,3+1+3,8+9,8) - full igc track
Day 3: A short race to goal has been announced despite nearly continous rain shower. Finally the task has been cancelled as the condition at the take off (first turn point Sternen) were very difficult (rain & gusts). At that time Noé Court & Basile Marclay finished the task in front. Nevertheless they could maintain their 1st place and won together the swiss championship.
Walking ascent = 732 m distance = 7,5 km
Final ranking: 23 out of 50 finally ranked participants.
Remark: unfortunately many accidents happened during this event, participants took too much risks with "bombing" into the mountain instead of a more controlled approach or took off in lee situations (5 incidents). Further the last day with rain was prone to accidents as a glider is just not flying as good in rain then normal (2 incidents).
